# 1116  Five Sign NLIs in Penfield

A good number of Penfield seniors including five boys lacrosse players and five girls lacrosse players met in the gym recently to celebrate their commitment to athletics in college with the signing of their Nation Letters of Intent.

All five senior boys in the lacrosse program had two common comments about the Patriot lacrosse program. First, they consistently credited Head Coach John Schembri with teaching them skills that go beyond the lacrosse field, and second, they all spoke about winning [at least] a sectional title this year.

Webster Schroeder scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter in order to defeat HF-L 9-8. The Warriors trailed at the start of the second quarter but scored four unanswered goals spanning into the third quarter to keep the game close. During the second half, the teams traded goals four times in a row.

Penfield stood on the shoulders of their two newest All-Americans, Max Spaan and Willie Klan, to secure an 8-7 overtime victory over 2014 Class A Champion Fairport. The Red Raiders fought hard throughout the contest, but in the end, the Patriots scored the final two goals to secure their win.

After their last minute loss last season in the Sectional Finals, The Panthers came back this season looking for the big win. After a back and forth first quarter where Penfield held the lead twice, the Panthers scored four unanswered goals to go up 5-2 and they never looked back. Pittsford defeated Penfield 11-6 to secure their fourth Sectional title and first since 2011.

Former Penn Yan attackman,Bradley Voigt (Syracuse), who attended the Salisbury School this year was named to the third team.
